The game takes us to a dystopian United States ravaged by a cataclysm known as Death Stranding. You will follow Sam Bridges, a courier traveling between isolated cities where the remnants of humanity reside. In this bleak world, being a porter is fraught with danger, as mysterious creatures called BTs haunt the land while rogue couriers seek to steal your valuable cargo. Before each delivery, you’ll need to carefully prepare your shipment, adjusting its stability and weight, as these factors significantly impact Sam’s abilities.

Sam’s mission evolves into an epic quest to save humanity from extinction, giving him a far more significant role than merely carrying supplies. Along this journey, you’ll encounter many familiar faces, as Death Stranding’s cast features Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Margaret Qualley, and Léa Seydoux, among others.
Release date and platforms
Initially, Death Stranding was released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive on November 8, 2019. The PC version followed on July 14, 2020. The enhanced version, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, came out on September 24, 2021, adding PlayStation 5 to the list of platforms on which you can follow the story of Sam Bridges. In 2024, the game debuted on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS (January 30) and Luna and Xbox Series X|S (November 7).
